BTEC NATIONAL APPLIED SCIENCE

For anyone who sees their future career in Science the Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Applied Science is an excellent starting point. It covers a wide range of topics across biology, chemistry and physics and will allow you to acquire a high level of practical laboratory skills from which the theory is then drawn.

What will I learn?

You will study 4 units. Unit 1 – Principles and Applications of Science I, Unit 2 – Practical Scientific Procedures and Techniques, Unit 3 – Science Investigation Skills and one other unit to be confirmed depending on students on the course

How is it assessed?

Unit 1 and Unit 3 are external assessed with an exam, Unit 2 and the final unit are assess internally through the completion of coursework.

Next steps

As a vocational course you will receive a well rounded set of skills that will be valuable to employers and/or in further education, you will develop skills in practical procedures, report writing, extended writing, interpersonal and critical thinking, team work, time management and research.

Students completing BTEC Nationals in Applied Science will be aiming to go on to employment in the science industry sector or can be used towards gaining access to higher education.
