Meet Our Senior Leadership Team

Mr Phil Lloyd
Executive Principal
Mr Lloyd joined the Senior Leadership Team here at NLA, to work alongside the Principal as Executive Principal in September 2020. He was previously Principal of Liverpool Life Sciences UTC and North Birmingham Academy

Mrs Emily Vernon
Principal
Mrs Vernon has been a member of the Senior Leadership Team since the school opened in 2006. Prior to that she was an Advanced Skills Teacher of Mathematics at Anfield Comprehensive.

Mr Daniel Crabtree
Assistant Principal - Sixth Form
Mr Crabtree joined the Senior Leadership Team as the leader of the sixth form in June 2019 and is a teacher of Biology.

Mrs Helen Darlington
Assistant Principal – Curriculum and Vocational Learning
Mrs Darlington is a Geography and Travel and Tourism teacher who joined NLA in 2013. She is the Quality Nominee, taking the lead for all of the vocational qualifications as well as leading on our ever developing curriculum across the school.

Ms Alex Kennedy
Assistant Principal – The Learning Hub, Community, Enrichment and Wellbeing
Ms Kennedy is a Sports teacher who joined NLA in 2010. She runs our Learning Hub and works with our community partners to ensure that NLA is an active member of our local community. Through enrichment programmes and wellbeing strategies, her teams ensure that NLA is a nurturing and supportive place to be.

Mr Steven McGhee
Assistant Principal – Teaching and Learning
Mr McGhee joined our school in 2016 as the Curriculum Leader for Science. He now leads the variety of pathways for the development of Teaching and Learning, which are open to our staff.

Mr Chris Welch
Acting Assistant Principal – Data and Outcomes
Mr Welch joined our Senior Leadership Team in September 2019 in an acting role. He is leading the area of data, tracking and analysis of outcomes in order to target different groups of students and ensure that all students reach their goals.

Ms Gemma Perischine
Director of Inclusion and Designated Safeguarding Lead
Ms Perischine has been a member of the Inclusion team since the school opened in 2006. She began as Head of Redmond House and now leads the team of House Managers, Inclusion Support Staff and the Attendance Team.

Meet our Support Staff

Mr Carl Mumford
Academy Operations Manager
Mr Mumford joined NLA in July 2018 and works with the Admin Team and other support teams to ensure the smooth running of our school.

Mrs Anne Collins
Admissions Officer
Mrs Collins worked as the Senior Office Executive at Anfield Comprehensive before joining NLA in 2006 when we opened, as the Director of Student Services. She is the main contact for all school admissions.

Mrs Vicki Davies
Senior Office Executive – Admissions
Mrs Davies joined our school in 2013 as a member of the Reception team and is now the senior member of the admin support team. She works with Mrs Collins on school admissions as well as her other roles.
Meet the Progress Team

Mrs Kelly Johnston
KS3 Progress Leader
Mrs Johnston has worked at NLA since 2009 as a member and leader of the MFL department. She is now working as the Key Stage 3 Progress Leader, focusing on the transition from primary to secondary, alongside the primary liaison team as well as tracking the progress in the Key Stage 3 years in preparation for their Key Stage 4 learning journey.

Mrs Sonia Johnson
Year 11 Progress Leader
Mrs Johnson joined the Business Department as a Business and Economics teacher in September 2019. She is now working as the Year 11 Progress Leader, focusing on the preparation for the end of Key Stage 4 exams. She also works with the sixth form team, with a focus on the transition between Key Stage 4 and 5.

Mrs Vicky Davies
KS4 Progress Leader
Mrs Davies was a teaching member of the Technology Department at Anfield Comprehensive School before joining NLA when we opened in 2006. Her role as Progress Leader includes tracking and monitoring students in KS4 to ensure that they are making as much progress as possible and to help remove any barriers to their learning.
