Year 12 engineers took part in a Built Environment Workshop. In teams they had to analyse the local area, looking specifically at how it is connected to other parts of the city. Students studied how people use transport and consider how different groups would be effected by a range of factors.
Students were then set the task of planning a new tram link in the local area and designing a station to accompany it. Students built models and demonstrated their work to the group, justifying and explaining their choices. Students were supported through this process by Heloise Wood, a qualifying practicing architect, Harrison Smith, a final year masters students studying architecture at Liverpool John Moore’s University and Joanne Harrop, the Director of Placed an Urban Design workshop company.
Students James, Jamie and Callum especially impressed the professionals, Jo Harrop described their work as “impressive” and could see their passion and hard work by the model that they produced as a team.
Placed is offering Architecture and Built Environment Workshops this Easter at the University of Liverpool.
