Yesterday afternoon staff and students at North Liverpool Academy pulled together to put on a spectacular Christmas Dinner for residents from the school’s local community.
Residents joined us from Regenda, Thirlmere Court, Simonsfield House, maritime Lodge, Clock Community Centre, Dobson Court and Abbey Lawns.
Greeted with tea, coffee and chocolate table treats the ladies and gentleman settled in to their seats. The wonderful kitchen staff put on an amazing spread starting with vegetable soup. This was soon followed up with a hot, full plate of turkey and all the trimmings. Rounded off with Christmas pudding and custard as well as refills of tea and coffee the fun didn’t end there. We continued with mini mince pies, stollen bites and christmas cake as well as some satsumas for the more health conscious of the group!
The afternoon was rounded off in roaring fashion with a good few rounds of bingo. There were winners all round who went away with slipper and blanket sets, chocolates, jewellery boxes and more.
It was a brilliant afternoon – in particular the kitchen staff were amazing having put on a full Christmas Dinner service for the whole school just beforehand. The sixth form volunteers who supported the event were also exemplary, serving the guests so attentively. They were a real credit to themselves and the school.
Special Projects Coordinator Miss Jones said “this is my favourite time of the school year. I loved seeing how staff from across the school as well as students came together to ensure that all our guests had a wonderful time. My particular favourite was Mr Devey who having never called the bingo before was soon schooled into being a pro by our wonderful guests!”
We hope they all have a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic new year!
