Last week, Dylan Horton and Matthew Hayes, both Sixth Form students at The Studio, went on the trip of a life time to represent The Studio in the Ednovation Fest, Hong Kong.
The two-day festival brought together educators and learners from across the globe to celebrate education innovation, explore different models of education, share touching life and education stories, debate learning pathways and gather like-minded individuals to craft an ideal education blueprint for our future generations.
After an internal flight from Manchester to London Heathrow, students boarded the long-haul flight to Hong Kong International, accompanied by Alex Brewster, a Curriculum Leader at The Studio.
Once landed in Hong Kong, Dylan, Matthew and Alex met with teachers and students from around the globe for an introduction meal, after which they headed back to their accommodation and caught up on some much needed sleep!
Day one began with a tour of Hong Kong, led by students from the Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity. Following on from the tour, guides took their guests to try out claypot chicken rice, a popular street food dish in Hong Kong.
Day two saw the launch of the Ednovation Fest, held at the Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity. Teachers and students from the UK, Finland, Malaysia and Hong Kong gathered to sit on a panel, where they discussed different models of education and shared their own ideas for improving the education sector.
Dylan and Matthew provided precise, informative answers to questions asked about the style of education within The Studio, and also contributed innovative ideas towards the group discussion surrounding the improvement of the education sector.
On the final day of the trip, Dylan, Matthew and Alex headed to the closing ceremony of the Ednovation Fest, where all attendees wrapped-up their discussions and exchanged details to remain in contact for the future.
kmAfter one final exploration of Hong Kong and an obligatory McDonalds, the lads headed back to the airport for a 12 o’clock flight.
This trip showcased some of the most innovative education models from around the globe. It was brilliant to be invited to showcase The Studio’s model of learning. Dylan, Matthew and Alex represented The Studio brilliantly and were a credit to our school.
Dylan commented on the trip – “The trip was truly amazing! It was great to explore how different schools from around the world are changing the education sector with new, innovative models of learning.”
Matthew reflects on the trip – “The trip was a real eye-opener for me. It has inspired me to explore the education sector further in the future.”
