Maths Mastery at Academy

North Liverpool Academy has recently partnered with national mathematics organisation Mathematics Mastery, whose mission is to transform mathematics education in the UK by developing teachers that teach exceptional lessons, so that every child can succeed in mathematics.

The Academy will be using their approach to ensure that students at the school have the best and most cutting edge Mathematical education. Throughout the next academic year staff will be receiving in-depth training to provide them with new pedagogical techniques to utilise in the classroom. Staff are looking forward to learning more about what Mathematics Mastery can offer, with Mr Joynson commenting “Maths Mastery is putting problem solving at the heart of the student’s education, ultimately making them more employable. We feel this programme is going to be greatly beneficial to our students.”

Mathematics Mastery is a charitable organisation and part of the Ark family of charities, their approach as developed initially in Ark Schools in 2009. With the strong results and feedback from both pupils and staff during this, as well as support from the EEF, London Mayor and DfE, Mathematics Mastery then expanded its approach to include schools outside of the Ark Schools network. They have grown year-on-year and are now working with over two hundred and fifty primary and secondary schools across the UK, who are all committed to showing what is possible in maths.

Mathematics Mastery Development partner Alexi Markis said “We value our personal relationships with each school and have ensured this is maintained as the programme grows. We are also engaged in mathematics beyond the classroom, as a National Partner of Maths Hubs, speaking at global conferences and continuing to develop research materials.”

We will be continuing to inform you on this process, so keep an eye out for further updates in the future!
