Mission Christmas Collection

During this term our students have been feverously collecting toys of all shapes, sizes, types and varieties for Radio City’s Cash for Kids Mission Christmas appeal.

In Liverpool it is estimated that 1 in 3 children live in poverty, so in response Cash for Kids launched Mission Christmas, whereby it asks the people of Liverpool to buy one extra gift this Christmas to donate to the appeal. Mission Christmas accepts gifts for children from ages 0-18 and this year are running the appeal in conjunction with B&M and Liverpool Echo.

The gifts that the children of North Liverpool Academy collected were ran as a House competition – which House could collect the most?

We can now reveal that the results were as follows:

5th place – Russell

4th place – McGough

3rd place – LaPlante

2nd place – Patten

1st place – Redmond

A huge well done to Redmond, but a special mention needs to be also made for Miss Barnes Year 8 LaPlante form who made a tremendous singular effort. Head of Redmond House, Mrs Doyle, said “I am so proud of the students and staff in Redmond House for the effort they have put in to this year’s toy appeal.”

In total nearly 200 gifts were donated by students and they were dropped off by our Head Boy and Head Girl, along with our Young Lord Mayor to the Mission Christmas Warehouse.

These will now be sorted and wrapped ready to be delivered to children next week.

A wonderful effort made all round by each and every student and staff member who supported, it reminded us at this special time what Christmas is all about.
