Another whirlwind week is coming to a close here at NLA, and our students have been taking part in a variety of different events and activities. You might have been following NLA over on our social media channels, but if you haven’t – here’s a quick rundown of what we’ve been getting up to this week.
This week, Year 8 students have been taking part in a sustainable homes project, which has seen students discussing how to make money from energy. Using cardboard props, the students have been working in groups to build the most energy-efficient homes, whilst learning more about sustainability and renewable energy.
We were also joined this week by Kooth – the provider of online mental health services for children – which came in to talk to our Year 11, 12 and 13 students about how to manage stress effectively. During the assembly, representatives from Kooth explained how to navigate the signs of stress and gave our students some useful hints and tips for exam season.
On 3 December we were thrilled to visit Alderhey Children’s Hospital with our choir, to spread a little musicality and cheer amongst the staff and patients on the wards. All were rewarded with some thank you cupcakes which were beautifully decorated with musical signs.
And, finally, this week saw Anfield Boxing Club visit the NLA to deliver some boxing sessions for our students. It’s great that our students have such great opportunities on their doorstep, and they really enjoy learning a variety of sports here at NLA.
That’s it for this week, but remember – our social media is brimming with activities and events throughout the week, so make sure that you follow our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for the news as it happens!
