Our week in social

We’re winding down for the Christmas holidays here at NLA, but our events and activities for the festive season are in full swing. There’s been plenty for our students to get involved in over the past week, and – if you haven’t already – make sure to follow us on our social media channels to keep up to date with what our students have been doing each week.

This week we’re talking Christmas cards, theatre trips and winter wonderlands…

Each year, NLA launches a school-wide competition to find the perfect Christmas card design, and this year it was no different. We received plenty of entries from students around the school, and we decided that our card this year is to be designed by Christina Florea. Christina is a Year 12 student whose festive reindeer artwork will become our 2019 design and will become her very first piece of published work. Well done Christina! We’re looking forward to sending out your card with a little festive cheer, to our friends across the city and beyond.

This week also saw our A level English students taking a well-deserved trip to the theatre to see Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman. We had a great time at Manchester’s Piccadilly Theatre – it’s always valuable and enjoyable to see a playwright’s words come to life.

Our A level History students also took a trip this week – to Hampton Court Palace – to learn more about King Henry VIII.

We were delighted to host the Beacon CE Primary School end of term concert. The event saw Years 5 and 6 perform to family and friends, and it was great to listen to each different orchestral section separately – we had a great time.

On Saturday 7 December, we opened our doors to our staff family and friends for a free Christmas party. We really enjoyed celebrating the end of the term in style, and we got stuck into the activities on offer on the day, including a grotto, gingerbread man decorating, bouncy castles and giant inflatable bouncy snow globes.

That’s it for this week. But, on that festive note – we’re looking forward to our Winter Wonderland – which will be taking place on 19th December – look at our social media platforms to find out more about the event and how you can attend.
