The Studio is showing its support for ‘Malala Day’ to celebrate and campaign for the rights of young people across the world.
Malala Yousafzai was targeted by the Taliban in 2014 whilst travelling to school in Pakistan. She was seriously injured in the attack and is now using her experience to campaign for every child to have the right to an education.
Malala Day 2014 is fronted by a global social media campaign, encouraging users to use the hashtag #StrongerThan to express what they believe they are stronger than.
Our students were visited by the World Merit Day team as part of Malala Day, who were able to provide an insight into the struggles faced by millions of children across the world.
Issues chosen by our students that they feel they are stronger than included oppression, inequality and sexism.
As part of The International Festival of Business Malala will be attending World Merit Day 2014 as a keynote speaker. She explains that Malala Day is not only creating a platform to share her story, but a global movement for voices to be heard;
‘Malala Day is not my day. It is the day of every girl and every boy. It is a day when we come together to raise our voices, so that those without a voice can be heard.’
