Over the last two months The Studio has been participating in various events as part of the International Festival for Business 2014.
The International Festival for Business is a 50 day festival focusing on bringing business opportunities to Merseyside. Held in Liverpool throughout June and July, the festival has provided our students with access to great business links and opportunities at various showcases and events.
As part of Creative and Digital Week, The Studio invited Ed Vaizey MP to the school to meet staff and students and view our innovative facilities. The Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries sampled some of the games created by our students during Project Based Learning and was extremely impressed.
Year 10 students Dan and Lucas gave a presentation to the Minister about the work they have been undergoing in class and also projects they have been working on in their spare time. Year 12 student Sam demonstrated the abilities of 3D printing and showcased the Minecraft Cloudmaker project he has been working on with FACT.
The Studio also attended Sound City Digital, an event celebrating the most exciting digital companies and organisations from across Liverpool.
Winners of the final Studio game showcase exhibited their winning game ‘The Ant Game’ and were praised by countless industry experts visiting the event. Students were also given the opportunity to attend numerous panel sessions from experts in copyright, game design and the digital sector.
Year 12 students Peter Lang and James Evans volunteered behind the scenes at the Sound City event, providing them with the opportunity to network with various industry insiders and professionals.
